The other day I had a chance to sit down with a well-respected education specialist friend of mine, Chris Waller.  Chris and I share a concern about the rising rates of new HIV infection among Minnesota youth and young people.  Please listen in to this first part of a conversation that gives good practical advise to parents about why they should be involved in the sexual education of their children.  Part Two will air later this week.

Back in May a good friend of mine, Ms. Moisha Lipshitz, wrote about the openings and closing of many Minneapolis bars and establishments.  Among those featured in her piece was none other than the World Famous Brass Rail.  Well, her post stirred at least one person, Fruit Fly, into a frothy response claiming that she was a sloppy blogger.  Since that time many different things have occurred but for the most part what Lipshitz stated has come to unfold.  I took the time to stay in touch with Fruit Fly and invited him to join me at the kitchen table to clear up some things.  I also invited Moisha.  Here is the show that discusses it all.  Hopefully this will help put to rest some of the inaccuracies that have been generated in comments section of a review of the New Brass Rail posted on TheColu.mn.

Oh Muffins, Julie and I have been friends for years but this is the first show we’ve recorded together.  She is such a delight and we laughed and chatted about all manner of things/  Her candid dialogue about her life and aspirations are all in the interview and I am sure you will be entertained.  The most exciting news in that Julie is also going to be joining the cast of the sister podcast Listener’s Discretion Advised!  I am so excited to be serving you Julie in this way!

I don’t even know how to capture the content of this show for you.  A surprise guest at P’s Kitchen Table today means that you are in for a whole lot of info flooding your afternoon.  I was busy vacuuming and dusting when who other than Ravonna Belladonna stopped by to raise my awareness and spirits to a new level.  We chat about everything from what is happening out and about the metro this evening and in the weeks to come to HIV and AIDS awareness in the U.S.

A shorter show means you can tune in and listen while you do your own chores around the house and still have time to throw on the tiara and show up on the town.

This afternoon I had the honor of sharing the mic with Kate Nelson, Public Policy Coordinator for the Minnesota AIDS Project (MAP).  Kate and her tireless efforts headed up by Amy Brugh, Lobbyist & Public Policy Director over at MAP continue to serve as true leadership team in bringing about HIV awareness and policy development here in Minnesota.  We chat about many things including: short sighted moves on the part of Governor Pawlenty, the recent announcement from the Minnesota Department of Heath about rising HIV rate increases among Minnesota teens and young people and other vulnerable communities, upcoming MAP sponsored event and more.  Please take forty-five minutes out and have a listen.  What you learn could save someone from HIV infection.

This was indeed a fun show to record!

The economy continues to tank and therefore everyone is looking for where the next deal is to be had.  So P invited the owners of My Scene City to the kitchen table to discuss strategies for getting much more for far less.

The soft-spoken (I mean that literally) artist Cory Weissman and David Birchard of My Scene City chat about all sorts of things ranging from how to get great bang for your advertising buck to what’s happening around town.

And if that isn’t enough - we even discuss the care and feeding of African Cichlids and that Nikki Vixxen is 0% fish… Go figure!

Amongst all of our incessant chatter are shout outs to Mama Stevie, recently crowned “Miss Toast of Townhouse” Miss Jamie Monroe, the always stupendous TiNea and much much more…

The concept of “In The Moment” (ITM) is fresh and successful in bringing the much needed messages of HIV/STI risk reduction and overall community sexual health to a much more technically sophisticated audience than what has existed in the past.  Each “webisode” is entertaining and provides good information as well as thought provoking situations.  The viewers are then asked to join the forum to discuss what they saw and experienced as viewers.  A new tool for a new age of HIV prevention work.  Good Stuff!

Mother Pearl is on speaker phone while lounging poolside with the cabana bois of Palm Springs.  She breaks up from time to time but assures us that she is going to be back and in prime form by the time the Auction rolls around in just a couple of weeks.  For info about being a Bachelor contact Chuck Schroeder and for info about the event click on the ad.

Today was not a very relaxed pace around the old homestead.  Margie interviewed Jason Bucklin from District 202 in the morning and then did an infomercial with Mother Pearl, Chuck Schroeder and Jason Mooney about the upcoming PrideAlive Bachelor Auction to benefit the Minnesota AIDS Project’s AIDS Walk.

A lot of good things happen through the work of these two great organizations and we dish it all up for you in under an hour between the two shows.  Hope you enjoy!

This past weekend just about did Margie in with all of the exciting things that were going on.  Between getting caught up with old friends and meeting new acquaintances there was hardly enough time to breathe.  We wished our dear Friend well at the benefit held in her honor at the Townhouse.  dearest Ti-Nea, we all love you and wish you well as you continue to bravely face the medical and personal; challenges you are encountering.  Mary Brewster once again staged an amazing night of talent and FUNdraising as the crowd at the event to benefit Ti-Nea pulled in over $6,000.00!  The folks at the Gay 90’s La Femme Show Lounge last night also had a ton of entertainment to digest.  Saying a fond hello again as Bebe Zahara Benet hit the stage for the first time since being announced as the next Drag Queen Superstar on RuPaul’s Drag Race was mixed with emotion as we bade farewell to one of the all time most talented ladies on high Camille Collins! 

After nineteen years of performing at the 90’s Miss Collins is stepping off that stage.  Best wishes to you both and Camille, I hope that means you and Cee Cee will come on back to Listener’s Discretion Advised very soon.  As for our humble little cadre of talent - well you just stay tuned whilst we cook up some things of our own.  Coo Coo, Buffy and I chat about everything from the Pope’s stupid statements to the many boys in Coo Coo’s nest.  Hope you enjoy!
